AU4H Community Kids Watch
Local grassroots nonprofit organization, Advocates United for Humanity invites you to partner with them as part of their ‘Community Safety Team’ and their newly created ‘Community Kids Watch’ program. AU4H Founders Donna Kshir and Lee Roberts created this program in the loving memory of 9 year-old Anson Landon Mitchell Stover. Anson, who resided in Clinton County, PA, was found deceased in his home as a result of unspeakable abuses at the hands of his aunt who was supposed to love and protect him.
Anson will never grow up, play sports, get a driver's license, go to the prom, fall in love, get married, have children of his own or grow old. No one made a phone call that could have saved his life.
Kshir and Lee Roberts, the Founders of Advocates United for Humanity, have created a kids watch program that involves the community in taking a united stand again child abuse. Our ‘Community Kids Watch’ program is a simple act of kindness that anyone can take part in.
The ‘Community Kids Watch’ program helps children in the community feel safe and protected knowing their families, friends, and community are attentively watching over them. Each person in the neighborhood, apartment complex, street, or community vows to take a stand to help stop child abuse by “watching, listening and reporting” any suspected abuse towards a child.
Many people fear reporting suspected child abuse thinking if they are wrong they will be charged for filing a false report. There is no wrong in doing what you believe is right to protect a child. Making a report in good faith will not get you in any trouble. By reporting the suspected abuse you may save a child's life. Please don’t let another child die by not making the call if you suspect abuse.
Board of Directors President Donna Kshir said, “I would rather file a report and be wrong a million times than to have one child lose their life.”
Lee Roberts, AU4H CEO said, “It takes a village to raise a child is a saying we hear often. What does it mean? It means it takes all of us to care for the children in our communities, to ensure they are safe wherever they are. It means keeping an eye out for suspected harm that may be happening and to report that harm before it is too late.”
In memory of Anson, the 'Community Kids Watch' volunteers will be known as 'Community Kids Watch Ambassadors.'
